A team from 99X Technology participated at the 4th Mercantile/Government Services Chess Championship organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, held from 30th July to 2nd August at Lions Activity Center, Colombo 7. The tournament was held over 7 rounds according to the Swiss pairing system. A team had to consist of 5 players (any combination which ensured at least 1 male player and 1 female player). The tournament was held as an individual tournament, and accumulated score of the best female player and the best two male players at the end of the tournament decided the team standings. It’s with great pleasure we announce that the 99X Technology team managed to become the Runners-Up of the tournament, very closely behind MAS Holdings. Lakmal Bandara won the joint 3rd place in the individual category with 5.5 out of 7 games.
